Well, I guess recruiting more people gives them more reasons for mounting more of these nifty plaques long-term.

I wish we held our current veterans in such reverence as the ones who never made it home.
Teachers too.
Well the ones who never made it back only require a plaque. The ones who do require healthcare and social services.
Also they might have awkward political opinions, such as whether the wars they were sent to fight were wise and just.
These are similar reasons to why right-wingers spend so much energy protecting “the unborn” and then forget about them at the very instant of birth. It’s easy to care about people who aren’t around to actually demand anything of you.

Yeah, it seems really strange. Why have a starting area at an arena roped off as a memorial with someone posted over it? And is the person always there, or just when there’s a game? Very odd.
Should we have those at the grocery store? Movie theater? I don’t get it.
Just a heads up, the person in the uniform is a high school JROTC cadet. Not saying he doesn’t deserve the respect of not getting wet in the rain, but at the point the picture was taken, he never served a day. Just kinda strange imo that a stranger would do this for a high schooler.
FYI, the shoulder patch and lack of rank on the upper arm is a dead giveaway.
I don’t know, I might actually be more inclined to do it for some high school kid.

Let me just say that takes a lot of strength and stamina to hold your arm out like that for an extended period of time. Props to the guy in red for his commitment.
