I’m still new on this stuff but I thought a few pictures could help clear out a bit of confusion, I sacrificed technical accuracy (hopefully not too much) to make it simple. Let me know what you think.
Edit: thank you all for the kind words :)
Edit2: changed screenshots to light theme, someone said buttons are too difficult to read on dark
Looks good and it’s informative, I like it and I think it will help new users better understand the fediverse.
This looks a good simple explanation for people! Anything to help people figure this out so every other post isn’t asking the exact same beginner questions for eternity.
Thanks! - Reddit, Twitter, and Instagram* refugee here. *= I didn’t get banned or anything like that, I just disagree with Zuckerberg having access to all of my data.
@ulu_mulu Nice! Great work
Just highlighting the above, and adding, that as a new user in his first day of Apollo detox, I needed that to feel like I have a direction.
I know Lemmy is the place to be when it has helpful and informative pictures like this one! Thank you!
Thank you for this. It took me a bit longer than I wanted it to over this past weekend to spin myself up into the fediverse, but this aligns very closely with what I thought I discovered during my migration here.
This is really good! Do you mind if I repost it elsewhere?
Go ahead! The more people find it useful the happier I am :)
I’d say this is straightforward and to the point. Additionally, it confirms what I’ve been able to ascertain so far, so it gets and updoot from me.
Looks great! Really shows how decentralization is perfect for the reddit model, since the whole point is it’s divided into decentralized communities. As opposed to twitter / Mastodon for example that doesn’t break into discrete chunks like that.
