I hope they give me a ‘I’m a path of Exile 1 baby and need respawns on all maps’ because I made my own build and while it’s ok and I can do basic tier 1 maps incredibly slowly (my dps is straight butt at the moment).
I literally walk through each map, firing my crossbow forward to hopefully only draw a bit of aggro and then back pedal as much as needed until the enemy is dead. Rinse and repeat until I clear all the rare mobs.
If a map has delirium on it I literally trigger it and then stand there waiting for it to end (I just found the ‘end delirium’ keybind over the weekend) . I haven’t even bothered attempting any maps with a boss on them due to how normal mobs are causing me issues. The one life per map is such a deterrent for me at the moment I’m having a really hard time continuing with that character. The worst part is I know I’m only a few pieces of gear away from being able to handle myself well, but the rng gods have decided it’s my role to struggle.
I’ve got nearly 4k armor and evasion. I can take/avoid a good amount of hits. My issue is that if I pull too many guys (which happens to be like 8 or more) I cannot kill them fast enough. Getting a decent crossbow has been a thorn in that characters side for the entire playthrough. I’m currently using rapid shots with gas/explosive grenades because it’s the only viable path dps wise I could find. Even then it’s absolutely terrible. I still haven’t beaten the forgemaster in act 3 brutal because I run out of arena.
I honestly think I’ve used less than a half dozen total weapons with that character for the entire time, from level 1 to 70. It’s so strange to me that the hardest part of the game has been loot drops.
I was just doing Nugi meme my man, but yeah I hear ya. Crafting system is petty brutal right now, especially for weapons. Are you SSF or something? I’m on my 3rd alt, and I’ve found it very easy to gear all of them for maps via trade site for under 30exalts each. If you’re new to GGG, they do balance the loot system around the idea you have access to trade.
I haven’t dabbled in the market just yet. I should have awhile back. I just wanted to get a feel for the game, see the options available to me and then maybe have some idea of what to trade for.
For my merc, a decent crossbow with a useful implicit is obvious enough, but aside from that and more skill support slots, I don’t really know what I should be focusing on. It’s one of the reasons I haven’t been trading at all yet. The other two are still very much in the campaign crunch and don’t need any trade just yet.
I’m a bit lost on where I want my sorc to go… I thought I had a plan, but attempting it didn’t work out at all, so I took a break from her in act 1b to gather myself and have a good think about it.
And I wanted to try a bonk man, so I made one. Outside of the act 2 boss I ran into last night, I’ve been cruising through pretty nicely. Nothing else has even been a blip on the difficulty radar.
Update: I augmented my flask with another modifier and managed to squeak out a win. It wasn’t pretty, but it did work. And since then I have had no issues. My dps is ever so slightly dropping off, but I can still clear the room in a couple attacks, and in a few more levels my attack will be back on the rise.
Sadly, there seems to be no space for this playstyle currently at all, which means I can’t recommend it to most of my friends (who played Diablo) and they really like the aesthetics and stuff but don’t have the time or energy to deal with the complexity.
Does not help that a lot of the community seems to be actively opposed to this playstyle - “git gud” and so on.
I personally like the complexity, I like learning the core mechanics of builds and so on but I just can’t imagine half of my friends doing the same thing.
I do hope that with updates they will make the Acts little bit easier and less spiky (in difficulty) again for people to just have fun with whatever they slap together as they go (this is about 90% of my 100 hours in PoE1, it’s surprisingly easy and fun to make a bonkers character that feels good - for a time).
the concept of ‘respawn tokens’ intrigues me.
Where did you catch that mentioned? watched the video as well as bits of the stream but missed this
In reference to cathedral bosses. Let me go find the exact time stamp.
3:54 in the video in the link.
Thank you!:)

Sounds like you could use some more defensive layers. Thankfully it’s really cheap and easy to respec in this one. gl!

I was struggling on a boss act3. I bought a nice weapon from another player and it trivialized the content way too much.
Not sure I recommend this experience…
It looks to me it completely destroy the need for crafting as it’s more efficient in resources to buy from another player.
I’m new player (ended act3 regular and now refilling ssf hc) so I would like your feedback to know more
