Don’t quit unless you have a new job first. I had a friend quit first and he’s still looking over 8 months later.

Thanks for all the work!
Someone said that if they paid their mods they would lose safe harbor protection and be liable for content that was posted. If that’s true makes sense why they can’t pay them. But that still doens’t justify the insane API increase.
I’ve been a developer for awhile and you would be surprised how many companies can’t get out of their own way to improve their products.
I think you’re right. Imagining the instances as a bunch of a little reddits with their own subreddits that I can subscribe to and interact with is easier for me to wrap my head around.
It honestly feels more like leaving a bad relationship. I didn’t realize how bad things had gotten until I left.
I agree that e-mail analogy doesn’t make a lot of sense. Honestly just using it was the best way to learn. I’m already finding communities on other instances and commenting and engaging with them.
Guess I need to find a new job :(
I’m also using the mobile site and it’s been pretty good so far. More than enough to browse around and interact.
Congrats you just said something!
I really hope not. Switching to a new platform has made me realize how much I wasn’t being social on a social media site. Because of all the toxicity I was only going to a few subreddits. I’ve already created my first community here in Lemmy and I’m commenting and engaging again.
Why can’t it be as simple as fuck Facebook! I don’t want a multi billion dollar corporation playing in my sandbox.
