  • I think the term “manly” has been so polluted. I don’t think there is nothing “unmanly” with:

    • Loving nature.
    • Loving your neighbor (even Jesus said to).
    • Loving culture (and accepting other’s culture).
    • Showing emotion (except for you narcissists who use this as an excuse for abuse. Fuck you).
    • Dancing.
    • Going outside just to feel the wind gently blowing your hair and caressing your face.

We are capable of very complex modes of existing. There is no reason to keep being the same hateful person every day. It takes courage to go out of your confort zone. It takes courage to be a “man”. Whatever it is that word means. Love you all. <3

Edit: Guys, are comments like this valuable? On Reddit I felt the need to write this way, but everyone seems so chill here…

  • I am speculating here, but I’d imagine people here are so used to right-leaning comments making insincere questions, poisoned questions, or “just asking” type questions, that they thought the same was happening here. I thought the same at first, and really, can you blame? But, in this case, it could just easily be an honest question by someone trying to learn, and maybe there is something to be said about the response it got. We need to welcome people trying to learn, and who ask genuine questions. That’s the only way to grow (both the community and the ideology).

Edit: Honestly, what the other commenter said.

  • Your logic is wrong. If I understand you correctly, you are saying:

    1. Phone already knows precise location (through GPS).
    2. Therefore, it’s no use hiding this information.

To this I would ask, from whom? Sure, companies and government may already have access to it in some way, we can’t rule that out. But what about TankieStalker42069? Does he know the GPS coordinates? I would bet he would be very happy if you shared your location on a post, and then another post confirming it.

  • I just suggest not conflating the two in the future.

Ye, I’ll try. It was an honest mistake.

I think if anything communicating a passionate disdain for people like Beehaw’s lying admins […] would be a positive for new user interest.

I’d have to read more about the history between Beehaw’s admin and this Lemmy instance. I won’t blindly passionately disdain them, but clearly there is some history here which I’m not aware of, so if anything, I’ll think twice before “both-siding” this.

(along with Democrats, Republicans, Blairites, etc)

We’re on the same page here. ;)

  • I have to be honest, this looks like something that ChatGPT came up with. Although if it wasn’t, don’t take it as an insult. ChatGPT writes well, but I feel it’s output lacks the substance a human can create. Also, I’m picky. xD

I’ll admit, I haven’t read Stalin theory. And while this is well written, I don’t think a leader from the people, for the people, would hardly take himself in such high regard. As in, this text makes him seem like an egocentric. When he was just like you and me, part of the proletariat. Albeit with more theoretical knowledge and in circumstances that gave him the opportunity for leadership.

If I were to recreate this, I’d honestly just ask ChatGPT to write a Tinder profile for a member of the proletariat.

He may have been a great Leader, but the future is now on our generations hands, and we have to realize we, each one of us, is important. And to have pride on our own Tinder profiles, instead of idolizing what was in the past. I think a text which lifts up the spirit of the common man, instead if idolizing someone from the past, would be cooler. :)

  • Honestly it all depends on how paranoid you want to be. Say for example you had a rough breakup and want to get away from your significant other. For that person, maybe mentioning a city is enough to know where you will likely be? (Assuming they know it’s you using the nickname and location of family relatives, for example).

For a server host, like a Lemmy instance, if you don’t use a VPN, they could already have a general idea of where you live (if they wanted), even without you telling them. That’s because they can see the IP from all connections (if they wanted).

For a random person like me, on the other side of the world, I’d probably need a bit more than just the city.

I’ll leave what is a significant risk up to you. Just know that it depends on a case by case basis, who you’re hiding the information from, and how intent your opponents are in wanting to obtain that information. So, if there is little reward for the trouble, they probably won’t even try.

All of these things are generally called opsec (operational security), if you’re interested in researching more.
