  • About 5 or so years ago I was walking around the downtown area of my city with my wife on a night out. Temperature dropped lower than I had expected so we stopped into a local clothing store and I bought a light jacket real quick.

After the transaction I pulled out my pocket knife, flipped it open, and cut the tags off and shoved them in the pockets before putting the knife away.

Guy that helped me find the jacket and rung me up responded to that with, “That was hot!” Then gasped and said, “Did I just say that out loud?!” and blushed.

I looked at him and said thank you and smiled and my wife told him that it was ok. We all laughed then and we left.

Gotta love friendly stuff like this.

  • No, what I mean is that salary guarantees you get @ least 40 hours of pay (assuming salaried full-time). If you show up for work and they send you home, as a salaried employee you still get paid. Or if you finish the alloted work for the week early, you still get paid for 40.

After all of that is when non-exempt comes into play with OT pay according to federal & state regulations and any contract guarantees that go above those regulations.

  • They keep getting stalled because they proposed bills to remain on DST instead of not participating. To remain on DST requires US Congressional approval and the bills were ignored and were never brought up to vote.

Washington is looking at putting forth another bill to stop participating in DST altogether since that only needs to pass the state legislators and Governor sign-off.

I’d prefer to stay on DST permanently, especially on the summer solstice where the sun sets super late and you can enjoy summer. In the end, I just want to stop dealing with the fuckery of DST.

A spouse, housing, and 2.5 kids is quite a lot of motivation for people to work in the coal mines knowing they’ll be at high risk of lung cancer.

Now switch the damage to groups unseen instead of yourself. Yep… People just trying to survive.

    It fucking sucks.
