You know, besides the funny/cute/interesting videos that made it to its home page that I save to show them to my mother, the only other reason I haven’t deleted Reddit yet is the r/forhire sub.

Of course, not a Linkedin alternative per se, but it seems to me there have been people that has found full time jobs thanks to that sub. I’ve had the chance to get some small gigs and earn some extra bucks working for great people (and being scammed by awful people in other “similar” subs, but that’s another story).

I was bummed when I got here and found out there are some similar communities here but with almost no subscriptors and no posts whatsoever.

Sorry, but no. That solves just a minuscule problem in the litany of problems (good intentioned) venezuelans are having here. Rappi workers still are working for an utterly abominable corpo with ridiculous wages and no benefits. And third world tech bros, conservatives, so-called “enterperneurs” and the local oligarchy are lobbying against the labor reforms the government is trying to get approved trying to improve this situation. Loans for electric bikes are not a radical solution in this case.

Not exactly. Yes a browser engine is one of the most, if not the most, complex pieces of software.

But if it was almost impossible to create a web engine then this, or KDE’s KHTML, or Servo, or NetSurf, or Kraken, or you-name-it wouldn’t exist.

Then how come (one of) the most powerful tech company in the world couldn’t make it, you ask? They already had a “functional” web engine. But what they had from the beginning was absolute shit that did not respect any web standard. And oh boy we people who fought against that shit trying to support it do know. Its baggage was immensely huge and shitty that after a while and the speed Chrome was taking over they found it was easier to yeet it altogether, and I do hope that piece of shit is burning in hell because it made our lifes so miserable.

Note that Opera did the same thing with their web engine - they gave up with it mostly because they found easier to jump in the Blink bandwagon, without realizing they were making Opera just another Chromium skin without much value, contrary to what Presto was.

Kinda what could happen if one day Microsoft decided to try make Windows to be as functional, fast and permissive as Linux.

I agree, this is super clean and responsive and well thought it feels like premium. And the dev actually takes care of it and listens to the users.

Can’t tell about other brands, but one reason I decided to pull the trigger and get myself a Wahoo (an Elemnt Roam v2) after a lifetime of not having any cycling head unit whatsoever was that it has a clock (well, and the maps and altitude/inclination info). I’d bet other Wahoos have this feature too. I’d be really, really surpsised if Garmins don’t have this feature - I’d say that stating that “most head units don’t have this feature” is bs.

Granted, I wish the wahoo had a setting to get rid of the “a.m./p.m.” text, which makes the numbers a bit too small compared to other numbers in the screen. When asked support about this they replied me something in the lines of “the unit follows the setting of the phone it is paired to”, so if your phone shows time in 12 hour format, then the unit does so, and if the phone shows time in 24 hour format, so does your unit. Which is a bit nonsensical but it’s still great to be able to see the time of the day there. I wish I could had that thing/could afford such a thing when I had to go to uni and work.

I wonder if people from 1000 years from now (if there’s still people at that time, of course) would look back at our so-called “civilization” and make fun of us about our excess consumption of sugar, same as now we are doing with microplastics/nicotine/alcohol/etc or a few yeas ago about lead.

I got a Logitech MX Mouse Master 3s. Not sure if it can fit into what you want or need because I’m no gamer (like, not even minesweeper) but it has more than 5 buttons.

I set it up with logiops so you could customize its buttons - for example I set up one of its buttons to open KDE Plasma’s overview.

Good mouse overall though the bottom cavity where the wheel resides can get dirty so I have to open it like every couple of months to clean it.

Call me insane but I’m using a mix of parafine + beeswax. No problems whatsoever yet - it’s been great.

I really wish we could actually “rename” places as their original indigenous names across all America(s). For example my country had an internal turmoil just to keep the original name of its capital city because we love our native people, and yet we keep the incredibly stupid name of “Land of Colon” (imho most probably the most stupid name of any country, ever) because fuck our native people.
