  • Landlords all sign leases with a 1st of July ending date, because they know they’ll have the best selection of tenants for that date, because other leases also end on July 1st.

Also we don’t have “month to month” rentals like Ontario has, to my understanding. Renewals are 1 year, that’s it.

Yes, it’s a PITA. Especially since in QC, the vast majority of rentals don’t include appliances, which means you need to move your oven and fridge at the minimum, maybe you dishwasher, washing machine and dryer as well if your apartment has hookups for those. I’m so glad to own a house now, if only to be ove the moving ever couple of years nonsense.

  • A&W is my favorite in Canada. Expensive though, but so is everything including McDonald’s these days. McDs isn’t too bad. But I the last time I had BK or Tim’s were so disappointing I just refuse to eat there at all anymore.

Quesada is pretty good for Mexican, we don’t have many Taco Bells around here. I don’t know if it counts as fast food though, prices are more in the tier of Thai Express and whatnot.

    • Rack and panniers
    • Fenders for rainy days, some rain gear (I like my cheapo cape) stashed inside a pannier in case you get caught out in unexpected weather
    • A small repair kit. Should include a bike multitool, tire levers, a spare tube and pump at the minimum. A chain tool and quick link can be good for chain repairs, but in many years I never had a chain break on me. Mostly flats or random screws getting loose
    • Lights for sure if you commute in the dark
