middle-aged single dad who lives rural. nerd.
nice weather for ducks
and now it’s 5am and i am THOROUGHLY stoned. rest well, everyone! see you when the sky’s a different colour
we knew we had the power position when lemmy’s world stood it’s ground and didn’t explode on the day before yesterday.
ahhh WOO HOO i gave my subreddit the two-weeks-notice that i’m quitting today. fuck that feels better, knowing that the endless toil is ending.
i’m gonna have a celebration and get baked
that sounds fine by me. i think i might be running around like a decapitated chicken for the rest of the month seeing what needs to be done on which instance and all that, and i’m pretty sure Gigs will keep me busy once more people land in here
web of trust, or mywot. puts a little sign next to every link telling you if they’re trustworthy. fucken game changer. botsight is a great one for twitter. and buzzkill, well, kills buzzfeed
when has the narrative ever changed away from that attitude? look at how mutahar has acted - knowing that we’re doing the right thing but still throwing as much contempt into everything as he possibly can. the only times that people side with mods is when we’re taking enormous damage so that general users don’t cop it instead, or if there’s a power-mad despot who should never have control of anything larger than a toy train
so what’s the full specs of the machine? would building one of them and then running it at home from an NBN connection be viable, or would it lag to hell more than lemmy’s world about 12 hours ago?
btw when it’s time for money, i’ll put one hand up and the other into my pocket. this is the sort of thing that i would be happy to fund.
lmao hell no, a dedicated munter never returns to the scene of the crime because getting locked up gets in the way of getting drunk and stealing some rich arsehole’s tinny
oh, so they managed to get it off the concrete pillar that i had wrapped it around? good for them!
yeh i suppose that’s a good starting point and i’d let someone know if it was getting too clogged. i doubt that is going to happen for a few weeks at the very least tho, and by that stage i will very likely be in a position to be able to build an instance of my own
yes, they would be focused on the various live music scenes that they represent. i think live events would be more important for the entertainment industry than genre-focused communities which could easily be covered in other instances. being more activity-based than interest, i believe that they would benefit from a uniquely australian position
at least it got towed out of the environment
aww, thank you for your concern, but i’m not being troubled by the insomnia in the slightest, and i do prioritise myself immediately after my son because i need to be fit enough to be responsible for him
nah, crypto is smoke-and-mirrors and he knows that this isn’t, so he’s run away
the instance that i’m typing from is being hosted in someone’s cupboard with some pretty off-the-shelf parts. i’v probably got enough parts for something similar laying around my house. if instances stay to low populations and the workload is distributed amongst all of them, it’s not actually stressing the system all that much at all.
that being said, as soon as the aussie zone sysadmin asks for financial assistance, i’ll be putting my hand into my pocket. again, if enough people do that then it’s not much of a cost at all
the thing that did happen with digg that didn’t happen with heaps of other websites was a negatively received UI change. people hated it.
now, people deliberately don’t use the reddit mobile app because it fucking sucks, and closing down the alternatives is a negative UI change …
aye, the former mod of r/jailbait can have his cardboard castle and paper crown - let’s build something better
and the mods of r/australia can sit in the hole that they dug too
SALUT, KANGA !!! nice to meet ya
yeh looks like it. i can’t see any comments on that post either
