Affordable housing, here we come!
They want this only because it’s the most legitimate form of undoing democracy. They have other cards they can and will resort to if the traditional gerrymandering does not work out. They don’t have to worry about a January 6th being reprimanded anymore.
I would say that if presidents are allowed to be this corrupt, no long-term legislation or treaties can possibly be assumed to survive in between presidencies … except that would imply that the US is still a representative democracy when the reality is otherwise.
Animated gifs as a significant element on a webpage? Are we back in the 90s?
Isn’t this why they left the state in the first place? I fully expect Trump to employ ICE to track them down and bring them back, though and regardless of how illegal that is.
Bioshock 1 was an actual shock. 2, never finished it. Infinite, differently themed shooter with some twists that already had it reaching out to alternative universes but wasn’t so much of a “bio shock”.
Alternate universes is the modern version of jumping the shark. Starfield did it on its first go, and look at how that ended. Look at Marvel.
Can’t understand why Bioshock got that much attention and System Shock sort of got ditched for other companies to remaster. Now do SoulShock.
That may be the point and reason, but that doesn’t eliminate the negative side of it. You won’t find me defending clickbait or divisive social network algorithms putting people into their own bubbles, that’s what got us into this problem in the first place and it’s just going to keep waddling societies from extremes to extremes.

It has a lot to do with how it would have affected Cyberpunk 2077’s release in China and it’s huge gaming market. I mean, just look at the downvote count in my previous comment, there are a lot of butthurt factory trolls downvoting it from the red stained Lemmy “Marxist Leninist” foundries. China cannot accept any political commentary, specially coming from Taiwan, and the devs got punished for it. The devs capitulated, but China did not care, so why bother?
Cool, but what I dislike about the MeidasTouch is how they seem to prop up the importance of something against Trump when it’s usually something that isn’t going to make him flinch. They are giving people a false sense of security when people should be realizing that they will need a revolution to get out of fascism.
If only GOG was this militant when it involved Taiwanese developers (Red Candle Game devs), I would still be using their platform. They haven’t even allowed Nine Sols on it, so I haven’t bothered going back yet or have even recommended them to the degree I usually did over Steam.
It’s not even that they had to censor themselves, it’s their woeful attempt at an excuse. It’s funny whom they kneel before and whom the are activists against. Were it a China “Many Gamers” matter, do not expect them to have been as willing…
People who focus on just one sole issue and ignore the full consequences and the reality of the say they do have deserve about as much democracy as MAGA. But don’t worry, you no longer will have any say at all.
I’m not one to encourage reddit, but its TrumpCriticizesTrump subreddit has basically been this since 2017.
Yeah, it’s some serious BS. They are forcing you to hand over and trust Reddit with your personal information, yet I wouldn’t trust them if my life depended on it.
At the very least, someone in charge of this legisltion should learn OAuth2 and force the sites they want to comply by only let those OAuth2 accounts access their adult content. If I was in the UK, I’d just pay for a VPN over giving my photo to Reddit. That site is a lobby brigade hellhole whose “we know your dark secrets, we know everything” owner is also probably trading your account details on the side.
The US is already well on its way to fascism, and has already adopted policies that clearly are. Honestly, this is a drop in the bucket.
IMO, blocking should only be limited to hiding comments and prevent them from directly replying to you, and it should also be transparent to other users if the parent comment or a nested child comment is blocked or being blocked. Depending on the person you are blocking, it also shouldn’t be permanent but have an expiry date. If they are clearly a hate filled bigot, block for a decade, if they are immature, for a year or two, if they are just worked up in the moment, weeks to a month. Sort of like banning, but at an individual level.
It’s definitely real, even if it is just the list of 150 Epstein associates that were unsealed years ago. If there was anything more, it ceased to exist during the first Trump administration.
“Please assume the position.”
I’m hoping it includes New Game+
The new account icon tells very little in comparison to the comment history.
If, say, my account was created today as I’m posting in a very politically radicalized topic, it can be very suggestive about the type of user I am. If the account seems to be speaking from experience and awareness of the social network they are speaking to and it is new, it can indicate they are an alt, like a newly created one from one that closed down like lemm.ee.
But aside from that, it can do very little. It is the comment history that is most revealing to the type of user you are interacting with. With comment history and a recently created account, it can pretty much nail why someone created the account for sure, whereas if you just have a new account participating and just see a single comment with the signs of a dog whistle in a very politically radicalized topic from them, that might be suggestive, but nowhere near what a flurry of hate filled comment history would be that you might have been denied the chance to check up on with Reddit.
Some people can outgrow their comment history, akin to what “right to forget”, but I’d argue for something more like the ability to be able to tack on that you have done that, how, why, and what shows it, so more akin to a right to forgive. The only thing that should have a hard right to forget IMO is strictly doxxable and harassable private data. That’s a different but tangential type of discussion.
Are democrats finally getting a clue and seeing gerrymandering as a form of election theft?
