I use fluxbox but that doesn’t prevent using gnome apps; my main issue with them is that god-awful look they all assumed overnight a few years ago, without the title bar and the like (I think to match the Ubuntu tendency at the time / trying to emulate the fucked-up universal touch interface thing Microsoft tried to introduce at the time ?), from gedit to, indeed, evolution. I really loathe it. And thunderbird kept a classic look (firefox didn’t, which means regular css tweaking to achieve the same result).

Also thunderbird supports calendars and webdav/webcal sync with plugins (though perhaps evolution does as well now, I haven’t checked).

  • A wholesome thing sounds like:

The theme is Fairy Tales, so feel free to wear a crown. Everyone’s prom king and queen here! Semi-formal/Formal is recommended, but not required. There will be a DJ, free snacks, and a mini Instax photo booth. This event is free and open to high school students up to age 18 only. If your parents insist on attending, they will be banished to the library lobby. No younger/older siblings or friends. The door closes at 8:30 p.m. Once you leave the building, you will not be permitted back in. The Teen Anti Prom is a safe space for you to dance (or not) the night away, no matter your sexuality, gender identity, beliefs, or any other reason.

  • they aren’t as immediate for sure,

That’s perfectly OK, I checked and the controller is called at least once a minute (I didn’t check exactly but I think twice per min). But I also checked what the controller received, and there’s a bug there for sure

anyone can find a series of steps that reliably trigger a failed notification when one should be sent,

Yep, that’s the problem; I’ve found no link between those I haven’t received thus far. Old account, new ones; other instances, ours; doesn’t matter. Some do, some don’t. I’m always multitab though, perhaps that plays a role

I have a test env for lemmy (initially setup because I was worried about the last awful security flaw a few weeks ago); if I find the time I’ll try a few scenarios

  • Try to sort by All > Most comments.

It’s all internal struggle sessions from here, exclusively, despite all the recent dunk threads (also, it’s like 2/3 threads that are one or two year olds), with tons of comments but at most like a hundred upbears

Now sort by All > Top of all time; it’s exclusively threads from other instances, with more upbears, but less comments

Beyond being the most inclusive space I’ve seen on the web, hexbear might be that rare thing among online communities: a place with more posters than lurkers/upvoters

At least part of that must be due to the excellent decision to remove the downvotes, too
