Exactly. There are only really three things that I find outright objectionable when it comes to not liking the new shows.

1. Claiming that it isn’t “Real Star Trek” as if they’re the only arbiter of what Trek is, or that Trek has only ever been one way. It’s Trek. You can not like it but it’s still Real Trek.

2. Dogwhistle bigotry. A lot especially revolves around Stamets as a gay character, Adira as an non-binary character and Grey as a trans character. Not liking their character is fine, maybe disagreeing with how it was handled (granted I thought it was perfect) okay, but there are certain things that people say that are ridiculous.

3. People saying that Alex Kurtzman is worse than Rick Berman. One of those men made new shows people don’t like. The other one made new shows people didn’t like at the time but also did such horrific things as refusing to allow an actress back on the show to play someone new unless her previous character was held prisoner and raped to death. You can say you don’t like Alex’s stuff over Rick. You can say that Rick is a better writer, although I’d heavily disagree. But saying that one is a worse person than the other is batshit insane.

Well. None of the evidence in the post was about me. It was about every other user and what they’re doing to them. But sure. I’m throwing a tantrum because I was banned from a mediocre, low traffic, low quality instance that relied so heavily on a handful of users to prop it up that when we left it effectively started floating through space, on life-support, with an undetonated photon torpedo stuck its hull in the shape of a petty little admin.

Oh I cannot fucking stand The Orville. There are many many reasons I dislike it, which I listed but was kind of off topic. My blood sugar is low as hell and brain loopy.

I would have just had a discussion in response to your comment and not fuckin’ removed the comment. It’s an option for discussion. Just shoving your head in the sand and screaming while removing anything critical isn’t helpful to anyone.

Value is not going to handle this well. Whatever situation he’s in, he’s angry and bitter at the moment. He’s going to say that this is an attack on him, that I’m going scorched earth and that no one cares. He’s going to try to make this an admin abuse level thing when in reality I’m just posting visible screenshots of their own modlog. He could call my bluff and just… turn the modlog off. But that would also perfectly demonstrate that not only are they being abusive to their users but then they’d also be willing to hide that abuse.

He’s 100% a power tripping bastard and there is soooooooooooooooooo much evidence to document it.

Either they were not following those guidelines prior or they were just not being clear about their approach.

Moreover, I’m sure that the timing of me calling them out and them blocking the community have absolutely nothing to do with one another.

I don’t think people realize how many different admin actions I just completely omitted. I gave up once I realized I was basically at 20,000 characters in the post.

And like… I love Newer Trek. I love Discovery. But just obliterating anything that’s critical of the newer stuff is idiotic.

The level of fragility on their ego is hysterical. I’ve seen so much of it, from years ago to today, and I just can never help but laugh. The ego is catastrophically large for someone who checks notes runs a mediocre lemmy instance.

Basically, yeah., but it looks like Piefed makes it even harder. Normally on Lemmy you’d just have a comment in your profile saying “Removed by Moderator”. But if I even go to that post on piefed, I can’t even see that anywhere. Apparently when a moderator removes your comment from Piefed, it just is deleted. Like it never existed.

Exactly. That’s basically what Value Subtracted told me when I was leaving Startrek.website to set up Ten Forward. Before he realized that I was going take every single major poster on his community with me, anyway.

Honestly, it wouldn’t take much to make a more successful Star Trek instance. As much as I love Lemmy.world, I’d be REAL hard pressed not to slide over there myself. I know a bunch of other Trekkies that would too.

Don’t think you realize though how dead Startrek.Website is. I was astounded. Going back to posts a year ago is as easy as 3 pages in some communities and as hard as 10 in others. They’re also limiting the scope of what people can see so much…

For another example. The call out post I made a year ago on Ten Forward? That was at 530 upvotes last month. It’s over 600 today. I also regularly get messages from people, I’m talking like two or three a month, who express surprise that I’m still on Lemmy because they thought I was just blocked.

When Picard, UmmThatGuy, NegativeNull and every other big poster left Startrek.website, the whole site went onto life support. It’s limping along. A new instance might just kill it entirely. I can’t say I have any qualms against the execution of startrek.website as a valid instance. Not like the admins know what they’re doing. They’re just redditors.

It’s the least I can do. I just want to help Lemmy. He wants to turn it into something he can control. He doesn’t deserve the ability to slink by without being called out. I do find it hysterical that Value will consider stuff like this “Scorched Earth” as he has said to numerous admins in the past. To him “Scorched Earth” is just screenshots of things visible in the modlog. I guarantee you that whatever little conversation he’s cooped up in at the moment and flailing about how he’s being attacked, he’s used those exact words.
