  • There’s no reason to be afraid of people engaging with your opinion.

There’s no “brigading”, it’s simply a large instance of people who can see active threads, that’s all. They can’t downvote you, so are accustomed to responding to things thoughtfully and in earnest. There’s no reason to be afraid of them unless you literally want to see zero opposing views, or, unless you’d like to call them “tankies” or “bots” but can’t cope with similar treatment in kind.

  • You acknowledge that people have a right to defend themselves, and be supplied weapons to that effect. Your usage of “propped up” also suggests you acknowledge that there were legitimate separatist sentiments in Ukraine in 2014. Why do your principles of armed self determination break down when applied to Donbas? Seems that “tankie” is your word for “someone that believes in self determination”.

    When did that happen tankie?

Minsk 2, proposed by Russia, outlines that control of the border should be restored to Ukraine, and that Donbas should be reintegrated democratically back into Ukraine with a level of federalization to protect it from future lapses in Ukrainian democracy.

  • I think the Lancets themselves are slightly too crude. They’re so light (12 to 20kg depending on the type of warhead) and have so much lifting surface that even moderate winds lower their accuracy too much. Even in a lot of the videos the Russians post online, they’re actually in effect missing their targets in the final moments due to wind drift or insufficient yaw control. Often in the video’s it’s enough to look like a hit for propaganda purposes without actually damaging the target.

The concept they have is golden. Not everything needs to be hyper advanced, sometimes you just need a kamikaze lawnmover that’s good enough to get the job done. The problem with the Lancet is it isn’t always quite good enough to reliably get the job done in all weather conditions. Drifting a meter either side of a truck can fail to destroy it. Drifting a meter either side of a trench can turn a mass casualty incident into a nuisance. A breezey day is more effective than the entire remaining Ukrainian air-defense arsenal.

The Russians are constantly advancing and iterating their designs. The new glide bomb kits that they’ve been strapping onto existing FAB-500M62 bombs seem very effective and very accurate. Half a ton of glide bomb doesn’t care about wind drift.

  • currently trying to genocide

This piqued my interest, since a lot of the Uyghur genocide narrative collapsed years ago to the point that even the journalists that were reporting it began walking it back.

Taking a look at who is currently reporting on “Uyghur genocide” in 2023, and it’s all organisations like Voice of America, Radio Free Asia, United States Institute of Peace - basically (literal) US government propaganda agencies reporting on the US congress proceedings.
