What a good timing, honestly. In recent news of Nov 11th, Ecosia and Qwant, two European search engines, join forces on an index to shrink reliance on Big Tech (TechCrunch news article):

Qwant, France’s privacy-focused search engine, and Ecosia, a Berlin-based not-for-profit search engine that uses ad revenue to fund tree planting and other climate-focused initiatives, are joining forces on a joint venture to develop their own European search index.

The pair hopes this move will help drive innovation in their respective search engines — including and especially around generative AI — as well as reducing dependence on search indexes provided by tech giants Microsoft (Bing) and Google. Both currently rely on Bing’s search APIs while Ecosia also uses Google’s search results.

Maybe it’s time for Europeans to support more European tech companies and leave USA-based tech companies behind, here is a good start: https://european-alternatives.eu/

How do I know the link to a post from another instance to here? I don’t mean from feed but when people hyperlink another instance’s link to a post, e.g.: I had seen someone mention https://lemmy.world/post/19194148 in a reply, to discover the lemm.ee equivalent I had to open it and get community url (!support@lemmy.world) to here and lurk from here to find that post which would be https://lemm.ee/post/40968078 , if you try just changing instance link like for https://lemm.e/post/19194148 then you’d be redirected to a different post

Yet, some people seem to be harsher towards BlueSky than Threads. It’s just pure hate being focused for so many migrating there instead of Fediverse (which I agree would be better, but these people are not joining a social media to have to learn new tech terms so they can create an account and having to decide which instance after understanding federalization if they even do).

These people are happy when people migrate to Threads though, because better Zuckerberg than Musk, right? For some people it is always about hate and they avoid/are unable to make constructive criticism.

This comment looks like the sort of bot comments you usually would see on Reddit, unable of constructive criticism, just plainly hate on things and don’t make your case.
