  • Tinder and any other platform owned by Match Group is just as bad.

Had a lady I connected with on Okcupid go psycho on me a few months back and bombard me with harassing messages across multiple accounts because I wasn’t replying to her quickly enough on Telegram. I had to email customer support to get them to ban her. They gave me a month of free premium as an apology.

Premium confirmed my suspicions. Nearly all of my matches were ladies from different continents who were spoofing their location - either to pull off love scams (easily identified when you run a GIS/Tineye search and find out their pics have been stolen from social media) or to find a Western spouse and the means to a green card.

I don’t bring this up out of any kind of prejudice. I just don’t want a long-distance relationship with a woman who lives thousands of miles away on another continent, and I hate it when people break the TOS to try and match with others halfway across the world. Did a LDR with a Japanese uni student before and she ditched my ass the moment she finally came to the UK on a transfer year. Even then in the event that it does work out, I also know people who have married foreign spouses and have been intensively grilled and interrogated about their relationship by the Home Office. I don’t want to have to hand the British government months/years worth of private messages because they’re trying to crack down on mail order brides.

Match really do not give a flying fuck about policing their platforms. The platforms that don’t have a website and force you to use a smartphone app are downright unusable because you can’t really do a Tineye or Google Image Search to filter out fake profiles and find out how many Instagram and Weibo profiles they’ve stolen pics from.

  • This may be a core reason why I’ve struggled with relationships and haven’t even lost my virginity yet, but I’m not a flirty person at all. It takes a lot for me to even show basic levels of physical affection with a lady that I’m seeing, which just gives off the impression that I’m not into them at all.

Much of it is down to me being autistic, but also past trauma from school. I was bullied a lot. Among other things, there were girls who used to come on to me as a prank then laugh in my face if I dare took them seriously.

Make flirty remarks about their outfits being attractive

I don’t even do that, because I’ve had it drummed in my head that if you make such remarks, ladies will just think you’re trying to get in their pants. Also, it’s not necessarily the fear of rejection that gets me, it’s the fear of being creepzoned.

Where would you personally draw the line between “flirty” and “flirting”?

    Hard to say.

I met a lady on Hinge last year who made it clear she wasn’t attracted to me but thought I was cool and wanted to hang out as friends. I knew going into it that she was quite a physically affectionate person, and even then I still kinda got the wrong idea when she placed her arm around me and cuddled into me while we were walking. Like… the physical contact alone gave me a boner and I’m actually relieved she didn’t look down to see me pitching a tent…

  • Another issue is aged up variants of characters where their canonical age is way below 18 but the art depicts them as above it.

Here’s a better way of thinking about it. Isn’t it alarming that the moment Game Freak release artwork of a new female playable character, every rule-34 artist is rushing to draw aged-up lewd art of them? All but one main series Pokémon game has you playing a ten-year-old, with Black/White being the only exception where Hilbert and Hilda are 15…

And another thing I should definitely raise to the admins, current rules of “no aged-up characters” are very inconsistently enforced, if not wholly unenforced on this instance.

  • One of my biggest gripes with Reddit as a platform is the overabundance of amateur models spamming every single subreddit with the exact same posts to shill their OnlyFans and Fansly profiles, even to the point of posting their content in irrelevant subreddits without consequence. It’s at the point where the admins have all but abandoned the 10% rule for self-promotion.

Will you be implementing a policy to ban self-promotion for profit (and keep communities like Gonewild purely for exhibitionists), or at least encourage professional content creators to actually interact with the community and not astroturf LemmyNSFW with adverts for their OF like they’ve done with Reddit?
