I’ve been both of these to the same person (or at least that’s how I read their response).
Turns out, autism is not a monolith. Who knew?
too based for earth, too cringe for heaven, misfit in hell i mean, huh?

Fight me. Also, one of these is a function
Welp, there’s nothing to lose I think. I’m gonna give it a shot and see if it works
Oh, by “that space” I meant the space where that specific person hung out in, not AI research in general
Though I have heard a fair share of idiotic takes from actual researchers as well
I have seen AI apologists talk about how “AI” is already sentient and we shouldn’t restrict it because it’s immoral.
That straight up killed my desire to interact in that space the community with that person
🥰 😳 thank you
I mean, sure. My comment was entirely tongue in cheek. I didn’t like awards, especially those that are more than just a glorified emoji (such as those I mentioned)
But, truth be told, the wealthy can just straight up buy discussions and opinions. User farms/bots aren’t free, and neither was Twitter currently X. Nothing can hide from the cruel hand of capital. The fediverse isn’t immune to this either: it’s too small for anyone rich to buy out, but there’s very little preventing them from just buying one of the larger instances. And even without that, it still privileges those with money - hosting isn’t free.
The most we can do is to stay vigilant, I suppose. Be aware of the inherent biases in the world and refuse to engage with systems that are too strongly captured - Twitter currently X, the zuck platform, Reddit soon (probably).
Didn’t a lot of traditions start this way? First they solved some problem, then they forgot the problem existed and continued to apply the solution
But it doesn’t make your comment glow/move around/whatever the fuck awards did
Math is a language and as such it’s less pure than sociology. The universe knows no numbers, it knows no addition not division.
Which is why you should:
Vec
doubles in size every time it runs out of space)Memory is fairly cheap. Allocation time not so much.
Is this a reference to Bergson v Einstein?
If it is, why am I aware of it?
To be fair, Rust Evangelists are fucking annoying and it’s fun to hate them.
How do I know? Would you like to talk about lord and savior, Ferris?
At first I wanted to dismiss your worry and just call her dumb, but you may be right. I’m still not entirely sold on that, I think she can just be out of her depth, but what you’re saying would make for a very nice pivot to political grifting. What makes me skeptical of that is her old trans video, about sport. Though, now that I think about it, it used the exact same “both sides” and “insufficient data” arguments the new video abused.
I actually also wanted to link a video about free will and a livestream react but I couldn’t find a good one. Was that the one that made you quit?
I can’t speak to Sabine’s physics content but her social science oriented content is awful:
The capitalism video: short response, long react
I just wanted to use the bot in good faith (me having more money is good) to understand how a process works (the process of me receiving money) :3
You can’t apply computers to humans and expect good results. Period. Human made text is not easily parametrizable; much less someone’s manner of speaking or bodily expressions.
And human relationships as a whole, where at least two beings fundamentally incomprehensible to the machine interact, within a larger societal context that is equally incomprehensible? Acting like you can fit it into a neat model is peak computer science hubris.
And, in the end, it would only reinforce the preexisting notions of what is “healthy” or how others are feeling. I’m not sure that it applies to autistics as well as it does to neurotypicals. And I’m not certain if it applies to them either.
Even earlier, the original r/195 was left leaning.
Examples from top of all time:
Pro-socialist mockery of liberals
Cop hatred
Queerposting
Transposting before it was cool
Anti-capitalism
There was a lot more of this. Though nowadays, especially after the disaster, r/196 has lost its leftist edge. There aren’t as many posts about world events as there used to be. Or about the people.
I didn’t notice that it was the patient’s friend’s cocktail and got a solid dose of “what the fuck maple leaf country” before I noticed
This is anywhere, period. You can do that with letters, you can do that with speeches, or in casual conversations.
And you’re not always wrong about it either.
If you’ve played Disco Elysium, “Welcome to Revachol”. If you haven’t, play it. It’s an amazing game
