It’s a pain in the ass for sure. I got a lot better by playing F# or G cleanly and easily then transitioning down to F. I did a few strums on each back and forth while watching TV. After doing that for a few weeks I was able to play F much better.
I still flub it if I haven’t played it for too long but it comes back fairly quickly.
We’ll it doesn’t haunt me but looking back it was RoboCop. That movie is a bit much for a 6 year old to watch.

There’s one way I can think of that’ll let you know. You can get a small fish scale that fishermen use. Tie a string or whatever around the bar in the middle to attach the scale and weigh the bar. It should only take a few seconds and you’ll have an answer.
Oh it’s like a caltrop, here I was wondering what kind of carnage the cute little animals were supposed to do.
Look on the captain’s table. There should be an hour glass. You can pick which side you want to fight on. It’s basically PVP matchmaking. It can take a while finding a match.
As an American, I feel the same way.
I’m a fan of the gamesir G7 SE myself. It’s very affordable. The hall effect sticks feel smoother and more responsive. Also they don’t get stick drift which is why I got mine.
The only progression is cosmetics. You’ll likely run into more players if you go to the world events. Look for big clouds shaped like a skull or ships. Only one at a time I believe and will be there until a crew clears it. Sometimes it’ll feel like an empty server and others you’ll get a lot of PVP action.
I haven’t played for a while and don’t know if safer seas affected high seas players since there were a lot of players mad about the safer seas being added. I always assumed it was players who liked hitting soft PVP targets.
If you really want to have random PVP encounters become an emissary for one of the factions other than reapers. I’d suggest gold hoarders. Any level 5 reaper emissary will be able to see your ship on the map while flying the emissary flag. You’ll become bait for them to hunt down.
Also there’s the hourglass to do PVP.
I use a controller with hall effect sticks for that reason. Mine was cheap and works great. Gamesir G7 SE is the one I use. I’m sure there are others out there now as there were a few being announced when I bought this one.
I don’t know if it counts but I make my own fermented hot sauces. Use them on pretty much everything.
