I’m not joining another thing just for everyone to not bother their asses using it, I’ve already got a Mastodon account from that original week everyone claimed they were leaving twitter after the sale - everyone just created profiles and left again on day two.
Kickstarter doesn’t release the funds to a project until the goal is hit, and if it doesn’t reach the goal they don’t get anything. I’m not sure if they collect the money from funders before the target is hit or not though.
I really hope this doesn’t mean multiple rematches.

Ricky Starks, Eddie Kingston, Thunder Rosa, Eli Drake… it’s honestly shocking how many talents bloomed out of the manure that Powerrr never cultivated anything in.
I wonder where they’ll land next month… streaming on Rumble maybe? I’m not sure if that’d be better or worse.
I think with a self-hosted mastodon instance, the main downside is poorer discovery across the fediverse as a whole.
When you scale up to the thousands of users something like mastodon.social has, it’s not really an issue because other users have already established connections between instances by following or replying… but if your instance only has a single user, you only see and share posts with the instances you’ve directly interacted with, and it can be really isolating. You have to already know what external accounts you want to follow, because your instance is initially blind to them.
I feel like more instance connections leads to way larger amounts of data consumption too. I follow 120, and am followed by 12… my instance is currently using 24.1 GB for Media Storage.
It also means I’m usually watching everything the day after, because I’m not staying up to 5am for PPVs. Mind you, I’m still probably staying up to watch some other rubbish instead.

I’m not so worried about Bluesky getting the huge wave of new accounts, but more if those accounts will be actively posting next week or just slink back to the dirty birdsite out of habit. Good to know from yours and other replies that its very active at the moment though!
