  • The argument that Biden is worse on covid than Trump has the built-in assumption that Trump would have done more about it in its second year and beyond than Biden did. That’s honestly a ridiculous assumption. There was always an expiration date on covid mitigation measures and it was always soon. It’s not like Trump would have had any more incentive than Biden to demonstrate his pandemic management skills after the election, he would have been out there declaring victory over Covid just the same.

  • Kitchens are terrible, but a place some people can deal with, but you know this already. You should probably be thinking about getting the bag and not taking a pay cut to work what is almost certainly an even more stressful job unless you want to keep going with kitchens for a long time.

However, fuck me if it can’t be rewarding to cook at scale sometimes, beyond just pizzas. Some of the best hours of my life were knocking out breakfast orders on a busy day. The rhythm, the flow, the satisfaction of so many orders knocked out.

I’d consider the restaurant if you really want to learn to cook hard, but the commute increase is a big deal, not to mention pay. I think learning to cook more at your cafeteria is a good idea if you feel bored with your current work. From what I’ve experienced and what I’ve read, a cafeteria or such gig is really a good spot for working a kitchen if you can make it work. Way fewer surprises.
