Many Gen Z employees say ChatGPT is giving better career advice than their bosses::Nearly half of Gen Z workers say they get better job advice from ChatGPT than their managers, according to a recent survey.
Not surprising. Bosses/managers these days don’t want employees with drive or ambition. They want mindless cogs-in-a-machine wage slaves who will toil away at the same job for 30+ years without demanding raises, time off, etc. They don’t want to train people either for any job. Hence all the 5+ years of experience for “entry level” jobs.
I was about to say. It‘s simply not in the interest of most supervisors to be actually productive or give good advice or direction or… you know do a job. Any job. They generally just want to be left alone.
I know that many people have had bad experiences, I sure have had shit managers. But I really put a lot of effort into finding people who are motivated, independent, and driven. Find that eager person, point in a direction, and get out of the way. I hire people who can do a job and let them do it.
That’s good. That’s what management is supposed to do. But in my experience at least, they’ve typically been workaholic micro-managers who try to justify their own existence by bugging the shit out of me all day long, even though I’ve been consistently told I’m doing a great job and one of the best at every job I’ve had.

This is so dumb. Why would you lean on your boss’ advice?! They’re going to tell you how they got where they are and advise skills relative to the job you are already in.
That advice isn’t worthless, but neither is it likely to advance your career.
GenZ always seems to be screaming, “Pay me more!” LOL, no. You get paid more by improving your skills and education, then jumping to another job.
