NEW YORK—Standing before a crowd of millennials, Gen Xers, and baby boomers, members of Generation Z announced at a press conference Wednesday that actress Julie Andrews was problematic, but they refused to explain why. “You know what she did—you just don’t want to admit it,” said Gen Z spokesperson Taylor Collaco,…
A swing and a miss, I think. Julie Andrews is generally fabulous. From Sound of Music to SOB to Victor Victoria. An incredible set of pipes and a nice rack to boot.
That’s part of the joke (I don’t think it works as well if the subject is lecherous scum, or Frank from accounting) but to each their own!
I kind of get what they were going for, but I guess I just didn’t find it all that funny or clever. Kind of a dud. The fact that she starred in SOB showing her boobs, and played a drag king in Victor Victoria demonstrates she’s not just squeaky clean Mary Poppins. I also don’t think Gen Z runs around labeling everyone and everything as problematic. Sounds like something someone out of touch from Babylon Bee would come up with.
I suspect you don’t get the joke, because you are the joke.
Sounds like the joke wasn’t aimed at you.
