Anyone know if I can just get a long usb extension cable and plug in a Bluetooth 5.1 dongle to extend the range of my controllers into another room?

Or do the devices require a connection to the ps5 itself.

Not looking for bt audio. Ps5 cannot move.

I’m pretty sure that won’t work, no. You could run a long USB cable and just plug the controller directly into it, though.

Why would it work? As long as the USB dongle gets enough power and the USB signal isn’t degraded, it will work just fine no?

Because I don’t think the PS5 is expecting to get a bluetooth signal from a USB port. The USB cable is irrelevant- I don’t think you could connect to a bluetooth dongle you plugged directly into the PS5, either.

If someone has a bluetooth dongle that’s compatible with a PS5(does that even exist?) they could test it, though, and we could know for sure. There’s no reason the USB cable would mess with anything afaik.

The range is already pretty good. What are you trying to accomplish?

My assumption is either the new Qlite or the back bone would do you better.

It’s in another room. For the ps4 I installed an external Bluetooth antenna. Might do the same for the ps5 eventually.
