I have no clue what could have gone wrong as it was working fine last night but now it’s doing this. Any solution other than data recovery and a new hard drive ?
Haven’t heard of a drive beep unless it has a speaker in it. if it does check the manual for what the beep codes are.
If the noise is more like a metal tick or knock noise, that indicates mechanical failure and that is a very bad sign.
If the drive is in an enclosure there’s a slim chance the enclosure is what failed. More likely though it’s a hardware failure.
Seagate makes a utility called SeaTools for running diagnostics on drives.
Time to contact Seagate customer support
Thanks for the help sad to see it isn’t good news but at least I got a idea of what’s up
If it’s in warranty, contact customer support. If not, take it out of the enclosure and try either connecting it to the PC or putting it in another enclosure. Hopefully you’ll be able to read it that way.
I’ve ordered a new hard drive and have the same problem and my PC refuses to boot if a drive is plugged in my only guess Is it’s a hardware or software issue with my PC now In other news I bought a new cable to see if that was the issue and the beeping stoped in the old one I have 0 idea what is going on
Update update tried a different port and I think it’s working?
