Right now the user count Lemmys is comparatively tiny when held up against reddit - but the user count isn’t the thing that makes a social media site, it’s the engagement

So even if you’re used to lurking, try to get a little more active! Post memes, vote on posts, talk in the comments, whatever!

If people come here and see activity, content, and discussions, they’re more likely to stay and contribute their own - if they come and see a ghost town, they’ll just go back to reddit

More than that, spread the word around. Help people register. If Reddit users don’t know that lemmy exists no one will use it. We have to get more people AWARE.

The ball is already rolling. Reddit has done more to make people aware of Lemmy than we could possibly do ourselves. But more than just making people aware, we also need to teach people how to actually sign up and use lemmy to find their communities.

And we also need to donate because I’m kinda worried about the infrastructure if this thing really takes off. We might need many more instances with beefy hardware to support new users

And, if you help someone register, take a look at all the instances! It’s more healthy for the network if everyone isn’t siloed on the few larger ones.

I’ve seen reports of users being shadowbanned on Reddit for mentioning lemmy in the wrong places, careful out there people! Not that our Reddit accounts will see much use soon…
