You can misspell could, wanted, and school. Hell, you can wish to blow the school up. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to let you disrespect the great state of Kentucky!

Boys only want love if it’s torture. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream.

I don’t trust nobody and nobody trusts me. I’ll be the actress starring in your bad dream.

Oh! Look what you made me do!

interesting to know these things were going through kids’ minds even back then even though it hadn’t really happened before, except for that one “I don’t like Mondays” girl

interesting how the teacher handled it in 1989, just corrected one of many spelling errors, commented "Ouch, " and I suppose nothing was addressed or punished.

nowadays I’m pretty sure the kid would be expelled from school for all of eternity and put into juvenile detention Center with 24/7 security guard watch. Maybe.

In first or second grade, so, about 6-7 years old in the late 80s, we all knew a song called “On top of ol Smokey.” Which was an actual song, but I think most people heard it as on top of spaghetti.

        The “fun” lyrics were:

        On top of ol Smokey,

        All covered in blood,

        I shot my poor teacher

        With a .44 slug.

        I went to her funeral,

        I went to her grave,

        Some people threw flowers,

        I threw hand grenades.

I’m pretty sure the real lyrics were “on top of old smokey all covered with snow” but I don’t remember anything after that because we always sang the spaghetti version haha

Edit: Oh here it is, thanks Google:

On top of old Smokey, All covered with snow, I lost my true lover From courtin’ too slow.

From courtin’ too slow, dear, From courtin’ too slow, I lost my true lover From courtin’ too slow. On top of old Smokey, I went for to weep, For a false-hearted lover Is worse than a thief.

Is worse than a thief, dear, Is worse than a thief, For a false-hearted lover Is worse than a thief. For a thief, he will rob you, Of all that you have, But a false-hearted lover Will send you to your grave.

Will send you to your grave, dear, Will send you to your grave, But a false-hearted lover Will send you to your grave. He’ll hug you and kiss you, And tell you more lies, Than the ties of the railroad Or the stars in the skies.

The stars in the skies, dear, The stars in the skies, He’ll tell you more lies, dear, than the stars in the skies.

Oh I just sang it and it is heartbreaking and making me pensive

We had one we would sing to the tune of Glory Hallelujah.

          Glory, Glory Hallelujah
teacher hit me with a ruler.
so I met her at the door
          with a loaded .44
and she ain’t my teacher no more
