I’ve tried setting this option in account settings but I still get asked for every post and comment. The drop-down defaults to “Select Language” with “Undetermined” and “English” as the options within.

My settings are, as OP states, drop-down defaults to “Select Language” with “Undetermined” and “English”. And still I get posts in languages I don’t know — not lots, but obviously they’re useless to me, and I’d prefer blocking such posts.
For me, English is the default.
