You need to sign into meta yes, which sucks, but it might be possible to keep the headset offline. It would mean no steam link but sideloading (and thus piracy) is easy as hell on quest.
Is there a way to get SteamLink on Quest without signing into Meta or using their shitty app?

I mean you can’t stream from a PC at all without signing into a meta account I’m pretty sure, so it’s not like it changes anything.
Actually idk if you can do anything with the headset without signing in?
I can and do. I don’t have a Meta account.
Yes that’s my concern but I was hoping someone would have hacked it by now just enough to make it functional for SteamVR without Meta services.
Or ideally a whole different OS.
Huh, didn’t know that, what are you using to stream? Cuz if I remember correctly the meta app forces you to login.
Why would I need a Meta account to stream from my PC?
Because the oculus PC app forces you to login before you can use it
You don’t need an Oculus PC app to stream from your PC. You just use Steam. Or any number of other options like Moonlight.
I wasn’t talking about streaming your screen I was talking about streaming VR games
As was I
When will we get linux compatibility?
yah, sideloading
Okay but I’ve run into a lot of electronics that won’t let you do absolutely anything without creating an account first. Is that not the case here?
Yeah but I think you need to have a developer account and be logged in to sideload.
