Just thought to ask to get this community rolling. What’s everyone’s number of hours for each entry? They’re quite big games but it feels like time just flies playing these titles.
For myself, I only played DE and 2 (currently busy with this one), and I expected them to be around equal length but it seems I was wrong in that respect.
Spent about 100 hrs in DE (powered through the last bit from Lorithia onwards since I just wanted to wrap up the story and see where it would go at that point).
For XC2 I am at around the same playgime but I’m still messing around in Tantal (ch7 I think? Been spending too much time maxing affinity charts for rare blades and doing blade missions, need me those field skills haha), so it will likely be at least twice that amount before I finish (if I don’t burn out before then).
This also makes me wonder about XC3, is it more akin to DE lengthwise, or does it have similar mechanisms as XC2 to keep you engaged (and waste time not moving the story forward)?
Love to hear your stories, and whether you felt the time was well spent (some of these blades just seem not worth the effort…)
oof. I can’t give actual numbers, but since a friend introduced me to the series half a year ago I’ve played several. When I stream or, in this case, play with a friend watching IRL-letsplay-style it feels awkward lingering or dawdling for too long on side content or mechanical systems so my playthroughs are fairly focused.
- XBC1: 1 co-p playthrough, and then later another full 100% playthrough. My favorite in the -blade series.
- XBC2: Played through roughly a quarter of the game couch co-op before my frustration with multiple aspects had me and my friend watching the cutscenes movie-style on youtube. That said, I don’t hate the game and I want to do an actual playthrough on my own.
- XBC3: As with the last two, I did a somewhat focused playthrough with a friend and may sometime in the future come back for a full 100%. The DLC for this one was PARTICULARLY awesome.
- Xenosaga 1: Completed my first playthrough and really enjoyed it, despite how old the game is. I really miss turn-based games, and while this one is definitely crusty with age, the gameplay and story were still great!
- Xenosaga 2: Currently partway through. Despite multiple improvements, I don’t think I’m enjoying this one quite as much as it’s predecessor. I may end up watching the cutscenes like with XB2, but I’m not quite there yet.
The plan at the moment is to finish XS2, XS3, Gears, and then XBX. My goal is to be caught up with everything by the next game/DLC/installment.
Off the top of my head, I think I’m at just under 100 hours for DE, about 160 for 2 and ttg, and almost 300 combined for 3 and FR. I’ve loved all the games, but 3 and its dlc have grabbed me enough to want to 100% everything. Still haven’t filled out soul hacker though.
195 hours on DE, 50 on 2 (still.have to finish it). Looking forward to play everything the series has to offer, hoping for a switch port fo XCX
