Where do you write and read?

For the past 13 years I’ve been writing on Archive of Our own (Ao3) because it has a much broader set of T&C than most others, and quite a few others have crashed and burned.

But where do you read? And write?

Downloading everything as EPubs (yes, Virginia, it is possible to download from Fanfiction.net) and reading offline. The result is I really don’t care that much, where the EPub in question comes from.

And yes, a lot of it I “read” via TTS on my Android phone. And yes, I prefer AO3 commenting system with threaded replies.

I started out on FFN but later I switched exclusively to AO3. FFN has barely any spam removal, ads, content purges, very limited formatting, doesn’t allow to reply to comments in a way that is visible to all readers… No thanks.

I started on FFN with my original fandom, but I moved over to AO3 in probably…2016 and haven’t looked back. I love it because I can download the .epub file and read on my phone/tablet/computer (Apple ecosystem) and it’s great for preserving my favorite stories.

I read on FFN, AO3 and occasionally a few other sites on desktop and phone. On my Kindle Paperwhite, strangely FFN doesn’t work for me so I use primarily AO3 and download azw3 files from them to read the fics more comfortably, it works marvellously.

I’m predominantly on Ao3 rn, but I am working on crossposting to SquidgeWorld slowly. Don’t read much on SW since the amount of fic is still low.
