As for what the EU has done to reduce gas consumption:

• Added a new carbon trading system for home heating and transport. This is big as nearly half of EU homes are heated using gas.
• a tightening of the old EU ETS-1 carbon trading system to reduce the number of certificates by 4.3% instead of 2.2 to 2028 and 4.4% from 2028 onwards. Important to say it that both systems do only allow certificate creation by the EU and no carbon offsets and the current price is a 84€ so it already is having an impact. - EU natural gas consumption droped by 13.2% comparing 2022 to 2021.
• There is a lot more on a country level going on with increase in renewables, heat pump sales are going up everywhere and so forth.

Other then that EU gas storage is full and as long as there are no large unforseen events, the next winter will be fine and after that gas consumption is likely to drop, but propably at a slower pace then 13.2%.
