Or because drugs?
Big Pharma is finding new ways of claiming your drugs really do cost $30,000 per dose
These are pharmaceutical drugs, but illicit drugs would also be an interesting legal case.
Yes, i don’t think the cartel is trying to smuggle through space… yet
“On June 30, its first drug-manufacturing experiment succeeded in growing crystals of the drug ritonavir, which is used for the treatment of HIV, in orbit.”
which is used for the treatment of HIV, in orbit."
Guess that’s how they’re justifying the super high cost of treatment.
Astronomical, even.
:D
The article doesn’t really go into it further, but i assumed they are just trying to see if it can be done cheaper in zero gravity.
I was just making a joke about having to go to orbit for treatment. It’s lame, I know.
Nah, I just saw the other comment as well and wanted to try to clear things up. I made the joke first in the post and was afraid people would think I as serious.
It’s not about cheaper. You can grow crystals in zero-g that won’t grow in 1g, and those crystals have the potential to outperform what we make on Earth.
