What a loser. I love to hear about the personal preferences of others. Choice is fascinating.
To add - I have a friend who uses Mac OS, despite gaming. And we’ve talked about why and I think it’s cool, she’s made a lot od great decisions with her PC. But if I bring up Linux, she gets defensive as if I am proselytozing her, and asking her to use Linux, or she insults Linux. I can tell her why I enjoy what I enjoy, and she will just go off on a rant about why it’s bad.
People talking about that thing they’re passionate about is one of the most attractive things ever.
It’s enamouring like nothing else, and it brings me so much joy to see someone doing it
I think it’s because a lot of the conversation around operating systems can be quite elitist and people who aren’t super into it are tired of feeling like they don’t know something. For all the things I can criticize Apple for, I actually like their operating systems quite a bit. I hate the closed off ecosystem, but they do enough engineering to make the closed off ecosystem feel worth it. They respect their pro users with offline setups more as well. Windows, on the other hand, doesn’t offer anything except being the most developed for operating system.
I think your best bet talking about Linux is talking about the cool stuff going on with the steam deck. Showing people’s a handheld PC has very little to do with OS. Tell her about cool Linux stuff that she’ll probably get to benefit from as a Mac OS user.

Dude she’s probably sick of your mansplaining bullshit about Linux lmao
I think the unfairness of her talking about her computer but me not being able to talk about mine is bullshit.
