If we armed everyone, maybe the fascists wouldn’t have been able to take over.

It’s not like either political party gives a shit about the real issue with guns, which is mental health.

Over 50% of all gun deaths in America each year are from suicide.

Take away every gun, all those people still want to die. For the stupid among you, that’s bad.

But caring about that doesn’t get you votes, I guess.

The United States has more guns than people. Fascists love guns.

You are correct, no one actually cares about mental health

We lose around 50k people every year to gun violence and that includes suicide. You care about mental health? Do you care about human life. That is more people than an armed conflict every year including thousands of children.

Suicidal thoughts come and go. Having access to quickly end your life increases the chance you will act on it. This is not really up for debate as it has already been proven.

There are enough armed Americans to have prevented this fascist take over. More guns in more hands would not have changed any of that.

i firmly believe that everyone in the united states should receive gun safety training. there’s just too much chance around here you will find yourself in a situation involving a gun, and you need to know how to assess and neutralize the the threat in the event that someone is acting without discipline.

No. In the US, a huge amount of the population is armed. It’s a whole lifestyle and one of the hallmarks of being American™.

That didn’t stop the fascists. Now there are just shitloads of armed fascists.

Mental health is a problem. But we can look at mental health problems for other similar nations and still conclude: damn, these people shouldn’t be able to get a gun so easily.

I am pro gun. But our laws around guns are just asking for the brain broken white supremacist to go shoot up a school/church/grocery store.

“Depressed/Neurodivergent/etc. people shouldn’t carry guns.” “Yep, great idea why don’t we take their other rights as well?” I’m all for permiting guns only to people who need them for work, but this is just discrimination, without any positive consequences.

Such as the right to defend yourself with violence? Or is that only a right we give to the state.

Because you’re imagining a system that is discrimating.

Our system for gun ownership is less restricting than the one we have for being able to drive a car.

You could eg study there for very low cost, that’s one reason for a permit. Or you could work there, e.g. as English teacher (learning English is mandatory in pretty much every European country).

          e.g. https://www.germany-visa.org/

If you seriously consider it, you can PM me.

Ill look into that thanks. I tried looking into places I could go a few years ago and it seemed like everywhere wanted skill I don’t have, a lot of money, or relatives already living there. It would be awesome to be able to live in Europe for a while.

I bet you also have other skills that could help you stay afloat for a while. There’s also a possibility to learn the language and a job (usually paid) at the same time if you go into a field where businesses are having trouble to find new personnel. However, these are usually not the best paying jobs or very physically demanding jobs (there’s a reason for a lack of personnel).

I’m convinced a good number of, “media is telling our kids it’s okay to choose to be gay!” crowd are closeted bisexuals.

Because being homosexual isn’t a choice, so if you see gay media and think there’s a choice in the matter, then clearly you’re into both sides and just choosing the side that supports your indoctrination.

I knew a guy who had a mild (but noticeable) deformity and was also gay. He was at a friend’s house and the friend’s mom asked him “did you choose to be gay?” (or some form of that question). The mom was genuinely trying to understand more and it wasn’t ugly… she just didn’t know any better

His response was great; “I already have this ‘deformity’ that makes my life hell in school, why would I ever choose something that would make my life any harder?”

And the mom gained new understanding that day— never questioned it again
