Eighteen people have been arrested after a police force sent out female undercover officers posing as joggers to catch men harassing women while they are out exercising.

A pilot operation from Surrey police deployed female officers in running gear during rush hour to expose how often women are harassed. The pilot has resulted in 18 arrests for offences such as harassment, sexual assault and theft.

Big same. I’m mildly autistic, in addition to being a (mostly) straight cis white dude, and generally leaving people the fuck alone is usually pretty high on my priority list. Chief among them being afraid of misreading a situation or intentions and my own being misinterpreted. Intellectually I’m aware of how shitty a lot of the male population is, but I can’t emotionally understand how they think it’s OK.

It’s also frustrating because their actions end up effecting me because I am often treated by women based on what I am rather than what I have done or said.

      • I don’t judge them. Like… I too am a straight white cis male (autistic too) and would pick the bear instead of a man if I were alone in a forest. Where I live, it’s still the norm to catcall a woman wallking alone.

Not solving the root societal causes, as is generally true of policing, but this does at least create consequences for a harm that affects people day to day.
