Decided to check back on things after a coming across a comment saying a month had already gone by. Completely unsurprisingly everything was swept under the rug. The promise to “release findings” seems now nothing but a tactic to shut up anyone calling them out and now they just act like nothing happened.
Who woulda thunk?.
On the quality issues they still manage to fuck up even with all the “new processes” Won’t surprise me if sooner rather than later they just go back to the regular shitshow.
It’s been a month. Any investigation that could be completed in that time would be extremely rushed. A proper external investigation could take a year or more.
The issue in the https video is fairly minor and they are working to fix it.
Complete radio silence isn’t helping their case, specially when all they’ve done to address it is in a few sentences.
Complete radio silence is the only option. Any public statement would harm the integrity of the investigation and the findings. When companies are going through legal processes the worst thing they can do is make large, public statements.
You’re unhinged.
You’d think that, but I’m gonna keep this post up and as more months go by it’s gonna be clear the actual unhinged people are those who keep coming up with excuses on behalf of LMG.
The article you posted is from Aug 17th, and promises to release a “more complete statement”, not any particular “findings” you might be expecting
That came in the form of another video Aug 26th, where they go into the changes in production processes, including changes to fact checking procedures.
Crucially they acknowledge that it wouldn’t be realistic for them to simply not make any mistakes moving forward, but they detailed some procedures to mitigate the chance of it including collecting community feedback from interested subject matter experts in advance of publication. Sounded pretty reasonable to me, and the case you mentioned where they subsequently got something wrong doesn’t really seem like a significant error, or one they haven’t adequately addressed/corrected.
I’m not sure what else you expected? In a scenario where they have addressed the concerns to your satisfaction, what would they have done differently?
At the final paragraph:
Linus Media Group CEO Terren Tong also responded via email, saying he was “shocked at the allegations and the company described” in Reeve’s posts. He went on to note that “as part of this process, beyond an internal review we will also be hiring an outside investigator to look into the allegations and will commit to publish the findings and implementing any corrective actions that may arise because of this.”
Clearly say commitment to publish.
For those kind of allegations, investigation will take significantly longer than a month.
Yea like wtf dude chill if you hate them so much dont watch tis like a toxic ex never leaves but never let you have anything
Searching out outside companies, getting quotes, that’s at least 30 days.
Whatever company they pick has to have an opening. That could be 30 - 60 days out.
The company will come in, have a group meeting describing the process. That’s a day.
They will meet with all Management, All leads, the rest employees at least 15 minutes, maybe 30. Maybe they have one interviewer, maybe they have a team of 10.
They’ll come back and probably interview whole teams next to see if they find things that they missed individually.
They’ll meet again with the Management.
They’ll take another week or two to compile the report.
If they do it right, that’s 120+ days.
Until they have the report in hand. Nothing can be said publicly. Those Interviews would get tainted by the company saying anything about it.
Shit can’t be rushed, even if they came out squeaky clean, they’re going to eat all the bad karma until that comes out, and even then it’s going to leave an indelible mark on people who were already on the fence about watching them.
I used to watch the WAN show as background sound while I was working with a little news sprinkled in, I really don’t care to stomach them anymore.
My mistake, your original quote was “release findings” which isn’t a term in the article.
From my experience with external audits, they take awhile, but I agree they should post an update about that.
Conducting a 2 hour interview with every staff member one at a time would still take about 6 weeks.
The investigation will come out in a very long time, they will fire someone and pin everything on that fired person and pay them off with a very expensive severance and a NDA to keep their mouth shut. They aren’t gonna do anything you haven’t seen a fortune 500 company do before.
They did make a video like you mentioned about fixings things and slowing down the amount of videos, but who knows with these companies.
I can see them going back to what they were doing before but who knows we’ll have to wait and see.
I think it’s that most communities are limiting discussion around Madison until more information comes to light, so as long as LMG doesn’t say anything, and no 3rd parties or former employees say anything, fewer people care or remember every day. There’s no new news, and that fire of outrage dies quickly with no new fuel.
Also, LMG is not obligated to say anything. Them telling us they will means nothing. The corporate way of doing things here to reduce risk is to quietly fire anyone the find to be in the wrong and throw NDAs everywhere.
