The development speed of the Memmy app from just a few weeks back has been lightning fast. I absolutely love how far it has come in just a short time and just based on the issues raised on github and responses from the devs, theres a lot more in store to improve the app.

Maybe not everyone is aware, but one of the original developers of one of Memmy’s “competitor” apps Mlem stepped away from the project today due to burn out and feeling like their contributions weren’t good enough compared to more experienced devs that had joined. They were also apparently getting mean dms from users complaining about the app.

Just want to thank the devs here for all the work they are doing and remind them that they don’t owe us shit. If you need to slow down for something in life that happens or just need a break, then do it. Well still be here adding issues and improvement ideas and enjoying the app.

Yeah! It’s thankless work, and not a full time job, so hope it “gets released when it gets released”.

Just wanna drop in my vote of thanks in supporting Lemmy and wanting to do an app for it 👍

Dude, for real! I’ve had several moments where i thought i was just scrolling reddit in apollo and then had to remind myself that im not.

The only main pain points for me left are:

Editing posts/comments Viewing post history and comment history from profile view

I feel bad for the originator of Mlem, honestly. Why in the world would someone download a beta app and then throw a fit when something doesn’t work quite right? My goodness, it’s in TestFlight, it’s not a release candidate yet and there is going to be some unexpected behavior sometimes.

My personal preference for apps is Memmy (and I’ve tried all of the ones currently in beta) but I’m not sending nastygrams to the other devs because they didn’t fit my taste preferences or they crashed or something.

That’s sad to hear if people truly messaged those things. It’s nice to have a diversity of apps, and the person was spending their free time for the benefit of others. I noticed Mlem isn’t listed on my Test Flight list any more.
