I played Dragons Quest Tactics on and off for about a year but I never thought it was very good at all and there were a lot of annoying aspects I hated, recently the game decided to delete all my progress and characters so I’m done with it for good. Is there anything actually fun to play on Android in the same vein?

I didn’t realize War of the Lions was the original game, that’s cool, but $14 does seem steep IMO.

The other looks like it might have a lot of the stuff I didn’t like about DQ Tactics. Gatcha mechanic and whatnot.

      Thanks for the information!

$14 isn’t bad for a complete game free of microtransactions, especially one with as much content as FFT.

If that’s too much, but you don’t like free to play economy stuff like gacha (I agree with this, BTW), then I suggest emulation. You can get ppsspp and Joan of Arc or Ogre Battle, for instance. Both are great games, full of the tactical goodness you’re looking for.

I think I got it on sale a few years back for under $5. Maybe it’ll go down soon during Black Friday!

Have you tried running an emulator? There are tons of Tactics games that are way superior to anything mobile. Save states ensure you don’t miss anything by shutting down and starting right back where you left. I was a little reluctant at first since I saw it as a non-native app and patchy or glitchy. It was not and I was wrong. Emulation on mobile is rock solid. Give it a go.

Tactics Ogre for the PSP is very well liked and still holds. Runs very well on my android.

    Oh and it’s also $0!!

Oh I emulate a ton, I was just hoping for something with touch controls I could play in shorter spans than when I want to bring out a controller. I get overwhelmed with full controllers on touch screens (although being a tactics game helps slow everything down).
