Quite naive of me, but I assumed Costco prices were Costco prices. I needed gas, and was going to hit my local Costco–but realized there was one just a couple of miles away on my way home.

Filled up and then checked Gas Buddy. My “home” Costco was $4.99/gal and I had just paid $5.13/gal just 8 miles away.

Not a huge amount of money wasted, but sometimes it’s the principle of the thing, you know? 😏

Just checked again. “My” Costco is now charging $5.09–up 10 cents in just a couple of hours.

The Costco mobile app shows you the gas price of each warehouse that has a gas station, so you can verify ahead of filling up.

Costco updates their prices based on a number of factors. But they are running the data every 15 minutes to adapt to market changes.

Due to their volume of sales and this near instant price adjustments you will see their prices react to the “market” faster than most other stations.

When prices were at an all-time high a year or so ago and then Biden announced he was releasing some reserves my local station, at a point in time was over 1$ less per gallon than the nearest station
