I personally found The Ethical Slut to be one of the best and most influential books I’ve read, especially for the way it de-stigmatizes sex. What are your favorite polyamory books?
Polysecure and opening up would be my recommendations. Ethical slut did not connect with me at all
Working through Polysecure now and it’s all kinds of revelatory. There’s a recent sequel: Polywise. Heard that’s a good read, too.
Also a huge fan of The Ethical Slut!
I liked it a lot better than Polysecure, which was more psychology than polyamory. Also not as huge of a fan of Sex at Dawn, which was more like anthropology than actionable poly material, though it’s good for what it is.
I really enjoyed Opening Up. It has interviews with people that have been (or are) in ethical non-monogamous relationships, and shared their stories. So it’s down-to-earth & practical info that people learned by “being in the trenches,” so-to-speak, and not some academic theorizing or some-such.
I read The Ethical Slut and liked it as an introduction, but really did not connect in any meaningful way. I am happy that introduced me to the idea of check-ins tho.
I am not a huge book reader (I prefer zines, if you have any recommendations pls send them to me <3), but the other polyam/non-monogamy book i read was Polysecure and that felt way more relevant to me. I learned a bunch about attachment stuff and got helpful questions/exercises to reflect and learn.
I know that this question is quite old now, but I recent read the new Multiamory book and felt that has some excellent guidance and ideas in it. I’ve listened to the podcast for some time so that makes sense :)
The other one which is particularly good for me as an anxious person is The Anxious Person’s Guide to Non-Monogamy
I have read and loved The Ethical Slut, but in general I’m not a huge reader! I enjoy the Multiamory podcast, even though it gets a bit repetitive!
