Dang I guess my parents were creepy and weird for not wanting me to go to a school that would probably do a worse job teaching me full of teachers and kids who would judge me for not conforming to their religion 😔

School is secular my friend. Your parents (usually) aren’t if they are homeschooling. Nobody cares about your religion, this is a perfect example of the bs that homeschool kids are fed. The world isn’t out to get you.

My family is all atheists, and people in Utah and the south are pretty likely to care about that. They certainly did when I was growing up, and it’s still not uncommon for people to make fun of atheists or think less of them. My parents homeschooled me partly to avoid religion indoctrination, not every part of the world thinks there shouldn’t be bibles (or books of Mormon) in classrooms

True, it’s about pumping kids full of propaganda, making them learn shit they’ll never have use for, facilitating bullying, leaving them underperpared for adult life, covering up American atrocities, making kids recite dystopian prayers to a flag…

This sounds a lot like homeschooling; parents pumping religious BS down their throats without any different beliefs present, failing to teach them meaningfully information as they are likely unqualified, abusing their position of power over their child in a learning environment, leaving them extremely unprepared for the real world and how to interact with real people that will inevitably hold differing view points, covering up reality with more religious BS, making their children obsess over dystopian prayers to a supposed god…

If you support forcing every child to learn from the same common core, made in Texas bullshit, then you don’t support a secular education, unbiased lessons, or properly teaching children how to be adults. You don’t know fuck all about what you’re talking about, quit bitching that everyone isn’t clamoring to get a shitty American education
