We are about to play some shows outside of our area and I have to decide wether I bring my 410 or go straight DI out. In the one hand like to have the cab on stage for presence and in case the in-house mixer is unreliable. On the other we can save a couple of bucks and rent a smaller car if we keep it at home. What’s your experience so far? Does DI-Out-only work for you or do you make sure to have a cab on stage every night, no matter what?

Little late to the party, but Ive done DI the last bunch of shows Ive played. It simplifies things. If I were playing Carnegie Id bring an amp, but to a bar? Save some stage space, one less thing to kick over mid-set. Ive had sound guys mic me off-axis, lol. Im my experience, sound guys like giving you the XLR. Stage presence hasn’t been that bad either, maybe Ive just been lucky, but they’ve been able to push bass into my monitor.
