After 5 years of living in NYC, I realized that my live music experience has mostly been in Manhattan. Looking to change that.

What are your unmissable spots in Brooklyn?

Sidenote: as a metal fan, I was sad to see that Saint Vitus closed permanently just last year. Never got to see a show there but heard it was great.

I don’t go much these days sadly, but when I was the big ones were Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn Steel, Baby’s Alright, Union Hall, Music Hall of Williamsburg, and The Bell House. Some of them i have been to a lot and some only a few times, but I enjoyed all of them.

Edit: for reference, my peak time period for music going was 2008-2012. I also don’t live in NY, so it is always a small trek but worth it if you love music as much as I did. I still go, but I’m definitely a bit old now and maybe catch a few shows a year now if I am lucky.

Brooklyn Steel is the only one I have been to in recent years. It was the first venue I was at after covid ended as well. The last few shows I saw were LCD Soundsystem, Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, and Silversun Pickups. 3 of those were my friend winning free tickets, lol.

Brooklyn Bowl is a cool place. It’s nice to see something different. The stage area is a bit small, unless it’s changed, but I really liked it. The last 2 I can recall seeing was Dinosaur Jr. In like 2012, which to this day was the loudest show I have ever seen. Also saw Neon Indian in like 2009.
