What’s with the thick white borders on lemmy lately? What’s the use of adding these? I know there are people who are too lazy to crop their screenshot but in this case someone took the effort of doing the opposite of cropping the image. Why?

yeah i get being lazy, i was targeting the person who shared this meme but decided to add white borders
I think cropping already low-res jpegs will recompress them again and make them even lower quality
Could always encode as PNG or similar, as those aren’t lossy.
