The decline appears to coincide with significant changes in global climate that turned glaciations into long-term events, a decrease in sea surface temperatures, and a possible long period of drought in Africa and Eurasia. The team behind the work said the time window also coincides with a relatively empty period on the fossil record.

    I like how one day the news gives us a couple articles about population declines in a couple East Asian countries and the next they’re talking about the human race going extinct.

    While climate is a possibility, disease and war could also be a factor. Hell, even today religious groups breed like bunnies because in 1346 the Black Death hit and the human population was hit hard. The church pushed families to stop taking natural birth control and to have babies. The problem is no one told them to stop doing that.
