Curious what others have found when transitioning to a vaporizer. Been a flower bong smoker for 3 ish years and the hockers got to be too much.

Got the arizer xq2 yesterday and have been enjoying the lack of black phlegm but the high is much headdier as opposed to body of the traditional bong.

Vapor sneaks up on you lol, being able to blow it directly in with the fan is nice too. Haven’t fucked with the bags yet as it seems a little much. Been treating lungs as the bags with that fan honestly

What were your experiences/thoughts when going to a vape?

I went from joints to a DynaVap which was a marvel of engineering but I didn’t like still needing a lighter and I burnt myself on it a few times. Switched to an Arizer Solo which was amazing and really blew my mind, it was the first time I could see how much better vaping was with 0 downsides.

And now I’m on a Volcano Hybrid and oh lord, never take this thing away from me ever. I only ever use the balloons and never had to complain about a difference in high, I like the tube but I feel the balloon is such a calmer experience. You don’t have to worry about “losing” anything, or your herb isn’t cooking while you take in the vape, you can just enjoy it at your own rythm with your herb resting.

Yes. At home I chill with the Volcano Hybrid and its balloons.

For outside/portable use I have a Mighty+. Wich isn’t pretty or cheap. But has almost the same performance as the Volcano in taste.

Steer clear of the Venty as it is a nightmare to clean compared to the Mighty.

Yup. Volcano original for home, Mighty+ when on the go.

I use the premade bags for the Volcano. You really don’t have to think much about it; it’s easy to start a session and the high is the same as a joint. What’s nice is you don’t have to finish the whole thing like you might with a joint. It gives you more control and doesn’t stink.

Yeah the time control is a huge often unspoken part. Yes you can resume a joint later but it’s not the same. Here you’re fully in control you can do 10mn there 1h there and have no difference of taste or effect

The Volcano Hybrid was my daily driver for the last few years, and it’s still one of the best vapes around, but I recently bought a Venty and absolutely love it. I produce the same amount of vapor as a full Hybrid balloon, with less flower. The cleaning really isn’t that bad at all, you just need a toothpick and maybe some alcohol. Though to be fair I didn’t realize how much plant matter would end up in the cooling unit, but once I figured out how it all works it’s super straightforward to keep clean.

Edit: I forgot to mention the two best things about the Venty: the adjustable airflow means at the highest setting it’s basically unrestricted, so it feels the same as pulling on a Volcano balloon, and the other is that it goes from cold to fully heated and ready to vape in less than 20 seconds. It’s wild how fast it heats up.

FYI - you can use oven bags to replace the bags at a much lower cost, they’ll work fine with the Volcano/Volcano Hybrid.

Took me almost 2 years. But I’m so glad I did.

Hardest part was getting rid off the hobby of rolling a joint, and embracing the fact that I actually hated the taste, smell and high of Tabacco/ Nicotine.

Also took me 5 more years to figure out what huge role temperature plays in the resulting high. 🫩

CBD/hemp guy there but this applies to cannabis as well: I stick to below 350F because above that, nasty stuff starts to get released. After that, I use the ABV and resin to make pain killer edibles, drinks, etc. that beat most OTC painkillers and are far safer.

What do you like to make? The best edibles I’ve made were sour candy mouth sprays. Delicious, fun, hits quicker. The worst was an attempt at butter mints. Weirdest was peanut butter cups that accidentally got a sprinkle of cayenne.

Mostly baked goods but I’d like to branch out more into other stuff. Maybe if cannabis gets legalized federally I’ll even start with recreational stuff.

Coconut oil seems pretty effective, but butter works too. I use a crock pot to diffuse it.

For stem milk, usually just hot chocolate, mocha, or tea.

I usually do an everclear wash, evaporate, decarb, and then just stir in a little coconut oil to make it easier to measure.

Are you in the US? It’s legal to buy online in all but a few states. Check out wnc-cbd.com for flower.

I’ve got a Mighty I got a few years back, and it’s great. Smell is way better and it’s easier to travel and use without drawing attention. It’s certainly better for making your flower stretch longer.

Really would like to transition, but a volcano is still 300-350 euro in my country. I know it’s a premium vape but yeah I would like to use this bad boy atleast a few years.

If any fellow toker can recommend a good cheaper alts, then that would be appreciated.

I’ve owned a volcano for over a decade. Aside from the novelty at parties, it doesn’t get used. I don’t think I’ve even gotten it out in 4-5 years.

Did you go back to smoking, or a different vape? I know some ppl that only consume through vaping (Volcano) so I still think it’s viable, but then again I don’t own one.

Certainly viable. It’s a taste/preference issue. Everything tastes slightly of overcooked popcorn, and it’s a bit of a hassle to set up just for one person (though I think I’ve seen individual size ‘bowls’ for it recently).

Maybe borrow one from a friend to see if you really like it before spending that much.

I went back to water filtered.

I use CBD/CBG (read: hemp) for pain and stress management (it even helped me quit smoking cigarettes): Lately I’ve been using a Dynavap and a S&B Mighty+ but I’ve been taking advantage of DHV/TEDs off and on since the turn of the millennium.

I started with a shitty globe, then an MFLB (outdated now), eventually landing on an S&B Mighty+ (easy to use, but overpriced) and Dynavaps (hard to use but after a learning curve, they are excellent inexpensive devices) with a YLL2 induction coil.

If you are looking for a good portable, I’d definitely recommend Arizer (Solo 3 V2 if you want something powerful, Argo if you want something compact), Dynavap (if you don’t mind a learning curve, any are good, but if you want something to use with water pipes and whatnot, get a BB3, 6, or 9 or Vong).

If you are looking for good desktops, ball vapes are pretty much the best. There’s also the S&B Volcano Hybrid which is pretty good and easy to use, but very very expensive for what it is. I also have an Arizer Vtower (good bang for your buck) and an S&B Plenty (I find it ridiculous, but I think it is more geared for recreational marijuana users in a group who are going to go through a lot of it at once).

You can also use the resin that builds up in the stems as well as the vaped hemp or marijuana to make drinks, food, tinctures, etc. If you’re a a THC user, be careful about how much you consume here because stuff like stem milk can be very potent.

Personally, I stick to the non-intoxicating stuff for a few different reasons, but CBD/CBG absolutely kicks the shit out of advil for pain and I no longer need antidepressants for anxiety.

Cbg is great for migraines. I work with kids with disabilities (lots of lifting and moving) so i feel safer using cbg instead of prescription meds (that make me spacey/clumsy) when I’m at work.

I also just bought a XQ2 and I love it! I switched to vape pens a couple years ago because regular flower was too harsh on my lungs and I couldn’t hike up mountains. I’m enjoying dry vaping immensely… it’s like rediscovering my love for reefer. So much better than pens and without the pen headaches. The high somehow lasts longer with dry vaping and I don’t get headaches. It feels great on my muscles, too.

Are you looking for a portable unit? I bought the XQ2 and the POTV Lobo (planet of the vapes) at the same time. The Lobo has really impressed me so far. It’s the only battery unit I’ve seen that has replaceable batteries, which is huge. The high isn’t quite as nice as the XQ2, but it’s comparable.

I love my xq2, been a few years since i switched from bongs and it awesome. The highs are cleaner, and the flavour is amazing and my lungs are 1000% better now i dont smoke anything at all.

Edited to add i use the whip exclusively, but my buddy uses only the bags! its cool both options are legit.

An aliexpress ball vape (b2cvape Store) is better and cheaper than a volcano, I really didn’t like the volcano, fwiw I didn’t like the arizer tower either.

The mighty+ and crafty are good for portable but they’ve got a battery that’ll eventually die, I’d prefer replaceable 18650s. Even cheap portable vapes seem to do the trick.

Ultimately vapes are the healthier choice. I do miss bongs, they’re quick and I get to breathe smoke like a fucking dragon, but smoke does more damage to your lungs, no questions about it.

Coming up on 7 years now on my Mighty and I did one battery replacement on it so far which took about an hour of work. I’m very happy with the vapor quality and notice a big difference comparing it against other vapes I’ve used ( pax 1, pax 2, dynavap m 2017/2022, boundless cf, and a few others). A friend has a Venty and it seems pretty nice too, but I like the flatter form factor of the mighty for better pocket fit.

I’ve had two Solo2s. One broke and I lost one on a night out (along with my phone)

Got a Solo3 replacement and now I use the bigger bowled stems which are just the best thing.

The Solo3 is better than the Solo2, but the price is much higher so I’m not sure it’s worth it (here in the UK you can get 2xSolo2 for the price of a Solo3.

Since I started vaping I hardly ever smoke (unless at a party somewhere)

I’m a lightweight and not a frequent user. My goal in smoking is to get high.

I rarely used my previous vape because it got me barely any effects, at 200°C it sometimes wasted entire chamber of weed for what gave me a mild headache.

So, following the advice in this forum, I got a new one and a grinder. A modern one. A recommended one. TinyMight 2.

Tried it 2 times so far and maybe that’s what you mean by “head high”, for me it’s all the side effects of smoking, but I don’t actually get high. Doesn’t take the edge off, or make me giggle, or deeply relaxed, or make me think, just hungry and balance was a bit off. And I think I used it correctly, the cloud was mighty both times.
