I have 4-E feet. And I jog on the daily. Trying to find some good (cheap-ish, since I’ve been looking for work forever; I realize that will probably negate the “good”) wide shoes.
For most of my life I used New Balance. They’re really clunky. I did buy some WHITAM’s on Amazon, but (while "naked’ enough) the eyelet broke within the first 2 weeks and they’re starting to fall apart. Not surprised because they were cheap & made in China.
Should I just stick with WHITHAM/New Balance? Any others people would recommend?
I’ve used both Xero and Vivo barefoot, they’ve held up for years as daily walkers. I don’t run but I know people who have said good things about them.
If you want something with a bit more padding, aka a transitional shoe - Altra have a wide range and are good quality.
Unfortunately you get what you pay for, these are on the pricier end.
My impression is that New Balance has moved to more narrow models. I just bought a new pair of hooka Cliftons. They are not cheap and far from minimal, but they come in regular and wide models. For more minimal and whide I like Altra torin and Altra escalante. Wide shoes are still niche - I don’t know any lower price options.
Hi!
I run using running sandals, is the best option almost all year around. Even when it’s cold you can use socks, but when it’s warm is nice to feel your feet free :)
xero shoes could be a starting point to learn about this topic
I’ve shared your question here !barefoot@kbin.social
Altra has some wider shoes with soft and flexible upper zone. Sorry I can tell you models.
Dude, thank you! Never heard of running sandals. I realize running sandals are designed for running but all I’m imagining is me running down the street in flip-flops with barely-above-freezing rain pelting my skin! 😆
