Combining your wallet (or credit cards) with your cellphone, is foolish and personally irresponsible.

I understand the idea of consolidation and easy access. But phone snatching is so prevalent these days, because of how mindless phone droning makes people unaware of their surroundings. You’re basically just including your ID, credit cards, etc into one neat little package.

Spread out your loss and theft surface.

The convenience of bundling is greater than my perceived risk of theft. Maybe if I lived in a place where pick pockets were more common, the algebra would change. Also, my wallet case only has 1 credit card and my drivers license. It’s pretty easy to cancel a credit card, and a new driver’s license isn’t hard to get.

Yeah, but if I get pickpocketed or forget my wallet or whatever, it has a GPS tracker with cellular coverage that can be tracked because of FindMy.

    Can a separate wallet?

Where I live, I’m basically zero worried about pickpockets or thieves, but I’m really worried about my own stupidity and losing things.

It’s not foolish or personally irresponsible for everyone. It would be foolish or personally irresponsible to not take steps to be able to find my wallet when I lose it.

Phone snatching is prevalent? I know of precisely zero people who’ve had their phone snatched in my circles in the last decade or more.

Does your insurance even cover you in a foreign country? I know my work has a special policy that covers employees who travel abroad because our insurance won’t work there

    You guys have wallets?

I just pay with the phone itself and don’t take the actual credit cards with me. And when I do, it’s usually in my backpack, not with my phone.

the more I separate these, the more screwed I am if I forget one of them and don’t notice. Putting all the items in one place significantly reduces search time and panicking because… e. g. I need to scan a card to enter (but not exit) my house. It’s easy to accidentally leave this card at home when I head out every day, but if it’s in my wallet phone case, then I don’t get locked out as long as I have my phone.

I agree. I liked the combined version for six months, then realized that losing one but not the other meant I could still get home. I’ve only lost my wallet once in the last ten years, but when it happened, I was able to call the restaurant and get a Lift back there to collect it.
