And then kill their charger standards. Fuck their licensing fees

Are you talking about the charging port (NACS)?

If so, it tells me you likely have never used an EV extensively in North America. CCS1 is complete ass and NACS rocks it in basically every way.

And to be fair, last I checked there wasn’t any licensing fees.

It’s not the connector that’s the problem with EA stations and the like, it’s the total absence of maintenance. I for one appreciate CCS1 and J1772’s simplicity of implementation. NACS was designed by a marketing team which means far more complexity behind the scenes. They’ve done well keeping their stations running but the pins and sockets only matter for the sales brochure.

CCS1 is HUGE and heavy, already causing issues wearing out charge ports.

I’m sure people could imement it nicer but NACS’ form factor is just plain better.

It’s an open SAE standard now. No licensing fees.

Article doesn’t even say what the data shows. Did it go from 1000 cars per month to 1001 cars per month? Did it go from 10 cars per month to 1000 cars per month? Because some scenarios are more noteworthy than others.

I think “Tesler” is pretty good already.

Rhymes with Esler, Georg Esler. Tried to assassinate Hitler.

The only BYDs available in the USA are busses, trucks and forklifts. No cars unfortunately. Same with all the other Chinese brands like MG - none of them are available in the USA.

Most of the Japanese, South Korean, and German EV brands are available in the USA, in addition to American brands of course. Ford, Kia, Hyundai, VW, BMW, Audi, Cadillac, Chevy, Dodge, Genesis, Honda, and probably others I’m forgetting.
