At one point Monday, the firm’s prior private security firm — whose contract was ended after it coordinated with DOGE — also appeared at the building, at one point “proceed[ing] to walk toward the Institute’s gun safe,” pushing USIP staff to ignite its lockdown policy.
And at what point are they armed trespassers? And if the institute has guns…… Why the fuck aren’t they picking them up and defending the institute? What are they for? To sit in a safe, only for you to cry when someone walks toward them?
I’m assuming it was originally for use by the private security personnel, since they knew where it was and apparently expected to be able to access it.
And/or, the institute may have a strict no-guns policy and the safe is for visitors to store their firearms when entering.
I know literally no one who has a ethical reason for entering private security - some folks become cops for high minded reasons like wanting justice or to protect the vulnerable… private security is where the weak go when they’ve been rejected from being an actual LEO (usually due to being absolute turds, only rarely for physical fitness reasons).
Are all private security firms that corruptible?
Is private security not synonymous with mercenary?

The fuck.
I’m just sitting here finding it amusing that the Institute for Peace has a gun safe.
Well how else do you expect them to keep the peace?
Why does the Institute of Peace have a gun safe?
Possessing weapons is not antithetical to peaceful endeavors and wishes.
If you would have peace, prepare for war.

Makes sense. Thanks for thinking it through for me. (:

Also where a lot of washouts from the military wind up, often for the same reasons.
