You can kiss American democracy goodbye.

It’s gone. Whether our society is ready to accept it or not.

Those of us who were repeating ad nauseum that the last 2 elections were really, really important were not fucking around.

Our quality of life is set to decline for the remainder of our lives.

American democracy is not gone. Don’t partake in doom and gloom.

        Very.

Whether we get rid of Trump and Republicans in 4 years is irrelevant. The nation is still overflowing with stupid people. It won’t be long before we vote in another traitorous Republican and we won’t have repaired all the damage from this administration by then. So we’ll continue trending downwards no matter what. The speed at which we do so might just fluctuate a little.

Violent protests are going to start becoming commonplace in this nation. Homelessness will skyrocket. Retirement will be a thing of the past. It’s going to get very, very ugly.

All because Americans can’t be bothered to vote responsibly.

Once this administration defies the courts democracy will be over in the US.

It won’t be a one off either, he will then begin doing whatever he wants. Congress will not stop him.

If we survive, the Constitution is going to need a major overhaul. The judiciary and the legislative branches need to have their own enforcement arms.

So many innocents are going to die in the coming years. I wish I could warn them, but most of them seem to not care at all…

They’re on board with it because they think it will only happen to “those people” and will be appalled when it happens to themselves or at least their neighbors and friends and families.

Congress is categorically useless, and the ultimate judicial authority in the country - and a disturbing proportion of lower courts besides that - have been completely co-opted. And nobody anywhere who has actual power to push back is actually pushing back. I don’t think even a military coup in either direction would help things at this point. I think the US is headed for breakup and balkanization. This goose is cooked, imo.

See you guys on the other side, I guess.

Yeah my money is on a Soviet style break up, I doubt there will be much fighting during. I also doubt there will be a Russia analogue since there isn’t really an equivalent state maybe the great planes could unify but they don’t really have the population to be warmongers.
